Description

The T3A wax/resin ribbon is an excellent general–purpose ribbon. The wax/ resin blend coating provides good substrate compatibility as well as versatile overall performance at medium print energy.

The T3A ribbons are very similar to the T1G ribbons but offer improved adhesion to rougher substrates including papers, labels and Tyvek, as well as offering a higher print density giving ‘blacker’ codes.

The ribbon provides excellent text and barcode print quality, and with a print density of 1.6D. Print speed is up to 600 mm/sec (56 ips). The ribbon prints well on a wide range of flexible plastics as well as coated papers.

The printed image offers good smudge resistance as well as heat resistance up to 100ºC (212ºF). The low-friction silicone back coating ensures excellent printhead protection, preventing clogging and static build-up.

Details

Density : 1.85

‘Print density’ is a measure of how ‘black’ the print appears. The bigger the number, the ‘blacker’ it looks. It is an absolute number measured with a densitometer, here a Macbeth D19C.

Barcode compatability: 0 degrees: 100%  - 90 degrees: 80%

A measure of the edge quality of barcode in the print direction and 90 degrees to print direction: the bigger the number, the better the quality. It is an arbitrary number on a 0-100 scale.

Sharpness: 90%

A measure of print quality, e.g. clarity of fine detail in text, logos, etc.: the bigger the number, the better the quality on an arbitrary number on a 0-100 scale..

Print speed: 600 mm/second

Maximum recommended speed for this grade

Printhead energy: Between medium and high

The relative level of heat needed to transfer print from the ribbon to the substrate: affected by substrate and print speed. Reducing energy will extend printhead life.

Rub fastness: 70

A measure of resistance of the print to rubbing and scratching. Based on a industry-standard method using a Crockmeter - 680 g/cm3. Printout readable after 200 cycles.

Heat Resistance: 100 C / 212 F

Maximum temperature which the printed ribbon can withstand.

Lightfastness: 7,5

Resistance of fading by Blue Wool scale. From 0-8, where 6= 3-6 months, 7= 6-12 months, 8= 12-24 months. Measured outdoor in tempred zones (Europe/ America).

Water resistance: 100

A measure of the resistance to print to water: the bigger the number, the better the quality on an arbitrary 0-100 scale.

Solvent resistance: 0

A measure of the resistance to print to solvents: the bigger the number, the better the quality on an arbitrary 0-100 scale.

Disposal of used ribbon

All used ribbons should be treated as ordinary industrial waste and disposed of in accordance with local regulations. Cores are made of polystyrene. Ribbons are packed using recycled cardboard and polyethylene film.

Specialist on rough surfaces

The T3A ribbon has properties similar to T1G, but is well suited for more difficult substrates with a rough surface - paper, labels and Tyvek
